and to the exhibition: Galileo. Images of the universe from antiquity
to the telescope.

The exhibition reconstructs the history of the
Universe, as designed and shown extending the Scientific Revolution. From the visions and mystical poetry prior to the
Greeks, to Ptolemy, passing through the contribution of astronomy
and Arab lands to the theory of Copernicus shot from Galileo
and Kepler. Scientific instruments of exceptional beauty, celestial
atlases, drawings, paintings by Botticelli, Rubens, Guercino,
sculptures, archaeological finds and precious illuminated manuscripts
from the most prestigious museums and libraries of the world,
with cosmological models made for the occasion. A special section
is reserved for the original telescope of Galileo came up to
us preserved in the Museum of the History of Science in Florence. The
visit will be conducted by an official guide and
completed with the guided tour of Santa Croce Church where
the tomb of Galileo is placed.
